SZFW: The theme of Shenzhen Fashion Week this season is “Art and Life”. How do you view the relationship between fashion, art and life when designing and creating?

Dai Mo: I feel that the topic is a bit big and I can only talk about meager opinions. The rise of local domestic designer brands in recent years shows that people's demands for personalization are more personal and personalized, which means that art has begun to accelerate to life. Fashion and clothing itself are two concepts that are difficult to separate. Fashion itself is an area of ​​art, and clothing is a necessity of life. For most products, of course, including clothing, the style is dead, and the idea of ​​living is creativity. More and more young designers are devoted to the creative design of clothing and are active in the entire market. Clothing art has officially begun to accelerate its life. Although the designer also seeks names for profit, the romance in his heart will not be erased.

SZFW: Introduce us to the “Neoclassicism” of DAMO WANG.

Da Mo: This idea was introduced from the first show in 2015. As I said above, the style is dead, the idea of ​​living is creativity, and the so-called “neoclassicism” is a reference to classic retro elements and popular elements. Combined with the use of modern design concepts, it combines the retro romantic feelings with the needs of modern people, highlighting the aesthetic perspective and cultural taste of the personality in the post-industrial era.

SZFW: What is the theme of this big show?

Dai Mo: The theme of the 2018 Winter and Autumn Press Conference was “Night Fashion”, inspired by a group of films that were watched more than ten years ago, and it is perfectly suited to this year’s trend rhythm and design creativity.

SZFW: What message would you like to convey to everyone through this topic?

Da Mo: Lonely. In the thriving desire of urban life, there are too many lonely individuals, but I do not criticize loneliness. Loneliness makes everyone more unique and true. Even in the darkness, they insist on wearing gorgeous clothes; even if they are submerged in the endless night, they still need exquisite, proud and self-respect. Although this beauty is only present in our imagination, we hope that everyone will still love themselves and be better themselves.
