Why use floss

Most dental diseases are caused by poor oral hygiene, which is caused by the accumulation of tartar that can breed bacteria on the tooth surface and periodontal. Brushing can remove most of the tartar from the tooth surface, but the dead corners in the teeth between the two teeth and some of the irregularly arranged teeth are not easy to brush. This requires another oral hygiene maintenance tool - flossing.

Why do you need to floss your teeth without using a toothpick?

First of all, the toothpick is sharp and has no toughness. It is easy to bruise the gums when used. The floss is smooth and flexible, and it is more suitable for the appearance of the tooth.

Secondly, the toothpick is relatively thick relative to the teeth. Long-term use is easy to cause abnormal pressure on the teeth, causing the teeth to move and the teeth to become larger. The coarse rule of the floss is completely within the physiological range of the teeth. Long-term use does not affect the position of the teeth;

In addition, the shape of the toothpick is not suitable for the teeth, and the teeth can not be completely cleaned; the floss can move more freely to all corners of the teeth and can be cleaned more cleanly.

How to use dental floss

1. First take out a floss of 20cm to 30cm long and wrap around the middle finger or index finger of both hands.

2, use the thumb and index finger to pull the floss about 2cm, tighten the floss, use your own posture to enter the gap of the tooth from the occlusal surface of the tooth, and slide the tooth surface slowly into the lowest position of the gum.

3. When reaching the bottom of the sulcus, bend the flossing teeth into a "C" shape, and pull up the floss along the side of the tooth to remove the plaque. After cleaning one side of the tooth surface, lift the floss away from the gums, move to the other side of the tooth surface, slide to the lowest position of the gums, and remove the plaque in the same way.

4. After the teeth are cleaned, pull the floss out one after the other, and use a clean floss to clean the other teeth until all the teeth, including the last tooth, are clean. Then gargle.

Flossing timing

First, use after brushing, to assist in oral hygiene maintenance - all teeth should be cleaned at this time;

The second is to prevent food residue from accumulating after eating. At this time, only the teeth that are easy to accumulate food residue can be cleaned;

The third is any free time.

Age of flossing

As with brushing your teeth, it is necessary to use them as long as they have teeth. Parents or guardians can help the child when they have not learned how to use it, or if the elderly or disabled are not convenient to use it.

Floss type selection

There are different brands and different styles of floss on the market. As long as they are regular products, they can be used according to their own preferences and habits. There is no special relationship with the crowd. In addition, simple floss and stalked floss are only related to personal use habits, as long as the use of skilled, can achieve the purpose of cleaning the teeth. When choosing, pay attention to whether the dental floss products are designed in a targeted manner, such as whether there are differences between children and adults, the difference between fragrance and added drugs, and so on.
